Agoura Hills began to grow in the late 1960s after the Ventura Freeway section of U.S. Route 101 was built through the city’s heart. The first housing tracts in Agoura were Hillrise, Liberty Canyon and Lake Lindero. Rapid growth continued during the 1970s, when schools were built and much of downtown erected.

Today Agoura Hills is most known for equestrian ranches with horse trails, and top-rated hiking trails. Hiking trails at Chesebro Canyon and Agoura Hills often lead to Pacific Coast Highway with stunning views of the California Coast. Nestled within the city of Agoura Hills is the Oak Park community. Students living in Oak Park greatly benefit from the local schools. Oak Park school district is the highest rated school district in Ventura County and one of the highest rated in the state. Oak Park High School is rated 10/10 from greatschools.org with 84% of its graduates meeting the UC/CSU entrance requirements.

Oak Park is also best known for its open space – this area is surrounded by trees and greenbelts, as well as beautiful hill sides. And since its tucked back about a couple of miles from the freeway, there is never much traffic.
